Ohn Mar is a Burmese born  (U.K. based) illustrator, sketchbook artist and  teacher, best known for food illustrations. Ohn Mar’s 25 watercolour sketchbooks document her creative journey and inspired over 20 online classes. Her mission statement is: I use my creativity and intuition to support and inspire myself, and then help others do the same.

Burma’s 2021 push for democracy has given Ohn Mar a chance to explore how she can add her true voice to causes close to her heart. She has seen other strikes for democracy in Burma in 1988 and 2007 when she didn’t have the leverage or a platform to make a difference. But today Ohn Mar is in much more advantageous position and recognises how her daily 3 finger salutes on social media can raise awareness of the plight of her homeland. Individually each salute appears simple but collectively they are a powerful force for transformation.

This collage is a selection of the three finger salutes that Ohn Mar Win has been drawing every single day since the coup happened on the 1st of Feb. The collection now adds up to over 180 salutes and each salute represents an individual day representing crucial events that have happened since.
